BONACOMDA SEEKS STRONGER
COOPERATION WITH CEESD
On
the 21st of February, 2011, the community based group of
the chiefs and people of Anaafo Bissi in the Bongo district of the
Upper East Region of Ghana was inaugurated at Anaafo Bissi. The
community based group which was christened BONACOMDA was formed by
the chief and people of the area to foster unity among the people
and most importantly carry out self-help developmental projects.
Anaafo Bissi has one of the highest incidences of dental fluorosis
as a result of the high concentration of fluoride salt in the water
bodies. As a result of this CEESD supported by Vodafone constructed
the first demonstrational facility to treat the fluoride
contaminated water. As a result of this members of CEESD were
invited to witness this momentous occasion. Present at the function
was the District Chief Executive of Bongo district, the “Bongo
Naaba” (traditional overload of Bongo), other sub chiefs in Bongo
and the general public. CEESD was singled out and honoured at the
ceremony for installing the first solar water distiller at Anaafo
Bissi. CEESD pledged to cooperate with BONACOMDA to find sustainable
solution to the problem of high fluoride contamination resulting in
the high incidence of dental fluorosis.
