EPA partners CEESD, looks forward to fruitful partnership
The
Ghana Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has formally registered
the Center for Energy Environment and Sustainable Development
(CEESD), formally entering it into its database of organizations
with whom it works in its areas of mandate.
In a letter dated 4th August 2010 and addressed to Mr Julius Ahiekpor, Director of CEESD and signed on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the EPA by Mr Emmanuel Salu the Chief Programme Officer of the Environmental Education Department, the EPA noted: “you are involved in bioenergy, solar energy, climate change and carbon finance programmes, environmental management and sustainability, and energy efficiency in the built environment. We are equally happy that your NGO is formed by young engineers who are lecturers and research assistants in tertiary institutions in Ghana with various areas of specialization”.
The letter congratulated CEESD on the interest it has shown in sustainable development in Ghana and expressed the hope that the two organizations will work together in the years ahead to co-manage the environment. Commenting on the accreditation by the EPA, Mr Julius Ahiekpor said pleased with the new status granted CEESD by EPA and indicated that they are ready to work with EPA for protection of our environmental heritage and for the common good.
